“Ambedkar Vichar Vedike: Cultivating Leadership with Ambedkar’s Vision”:

Objectives of the Practice:

  • To convey the timeless and noble messages of Buddha, Basava, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
  • To inculcate the principles of liberty, equality, and fraternity among students.
  • To bring out and nurture the hidden talents of students.
  • To foster a competitive spirit and a positive attitude towards society.
  • To nurture the spirit of social justice and develop a constructive struggle against social and economic inequalities.

The Context:

The vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar for a society free from exploitation remains unfulfilled even after seven decades of independence. Many of the objectives of the Indian Constitution, which Dr. Ambedkar helped to draft, have not been fully realized. Exploitation of weaker sections continues, especially in certain regions, including ours. These issues obstruct India’s progress towards becoming a developed nation. Recognizing this, our institution established the Dr. Ambedkar Vichar Vedike in 1994. Through this platform, various constructive and meaningful programs have been conducted, leading to a significant positive shift in the attitudes and thought processes of our students, guiding them towards a peaceful and purposeful life.

The Practice:

The Dr. Ambedkar Vichar Vedike has been organizing a variety of constructive programs, events, and guest lectures since its inception in 1994. A unique event under this initiative is the “Sarva Dharma Sammelana,” where leaders from all major religions share a stage to discuss the role of religious beliefs in character building. These events emphasize the humanitarian principles shared by all religions and encourage students to respect diverse beliefs, fostering the spirit of unity in diversity.

The Vedike also conducts four special lectures each academic year, two per semester, along with inaugural and valedictory functions. The valedictory session features a two-day divisional-level competition that includes debates, elocution, self-composed poetry readings, singing, quizzes, and essay writing. Over 100+ students from the Kalaburagi revenue division participate, with winners receiving cash prizes and certificates..

Evidence of Success:

Problems Encountered:We are running this practice very successfully since several years and received the support in large from stakeholders as well as form the management.

Resources Required :Good quality resource persons, volunteers for organizing the events, financial support and infrastructure required for cultural and other activities.

Objectives of the Practice:

  • The “Achieve with Ambition” program aims to provide comprehensive guidance and support to students aspiring to succeed in competitive examinations. The program’s objectives are to:
  • Equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in various competitive exams (e.g., UPSC, KPSC, banking exams).
  • Foster a culture of ambition and academic excellence within the institution.
  • Provide access to quality study materials, expert lectures, and mock tests to enhance students’ preparation.

The Context:

In today’s competitive world, securing a career through competitive examinations is a significant aspiration for many students. However, students from underprivileged backgrounds often lack access to quality resources and guidance. Recognizing this challenge, the institution initiated the “Achieve with Ambition” program to level the playing field and support all students in their pursuit of success in competitive exams. The program addresses the need for structured preparation, access to expert advice, and consistent practice, ensuring that students can compete effectively on a national level.

The Practice:

  • Regular classes and workshops led by experienced faculty and guest lecturers specializing in competitive exams.
  • Distribution of curated study materials and access to a well-equipped library with relevant resources.
  • Special focus sessions on subjects like general knowledge, reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and language proficiency.
  • Motivational talks and counseling sessions to help students stay focused and overcome exam-related stress.
  • Financial assistance for purchasing study materials or enrolling in additional preparatory courses if needed.

Evidence of Success:

The program has seen increasing participation each year, with a notable improvement in the success rate of students in various competitive exams. Several alumni have secured prestigious positions in government services, banking, and other sectors, attributing their success to the guidance received through this program. The structured approach and regular assessments have significantly boosted students’ confidence and preparedness, making “Achieve with Ambition” a cornerstone of the institution’s student support services.

Problems Encountered and Resources Required:

Some challenges faced include ensuring consistent participation from all students, particularly those balancing academics with preparation for competitive exams. Additionally, the program requires continuous funding to maintain access to up-to-date study materials and to invite expert speakers. Overcoming these challenges involves regular student engagement, seeking sponsorships, and leveraging alumni networks for financial support and mentorship opportunities.
